Since its establishment in 1981, the department has trained nearly 5,000 students, many of whom have continued to graduate studies at home and abroad to obtain master's and  PhD degrees, in esteemed universities, such as Purdue University, New York University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Syracuse University, University of Southern California, University of Maryland, National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Cheng Kung University. Alumni start own businesses or serve in the academic and industrial fields at home and abroad, including famous universities, such as UC Davis, Purdue University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Cheng Kung University, Yuan Ze University, Tunghai University, National Central University, National Chung Cheng University, National Taiwan Normal University, and companies such as Google, Yahoo, IBM, Microsoft, Apple, TSMC, ASE, Foxconn Technology Group, Acer, Trend Micro, and major financial holding companies. The graduates of the department are highly favored by all walks of life in the industry and are well received.

In the trend of the job market, information talents are in high demand and have higher salaries than other departments, making them popular talents in the future workplace. Industry-Academia and Internship, International Exchange Opportunities: The department actively promotes strategic alliances and cooperates with various industries. Students can have internship in companies in the Spring semester of the senior year or during summer vacations. The department cooperates with the global e-commerce Amazon company to provide internships at Amazon and its partner companies. In addition, the university has also joined the Global Internship Facilitation of Taiwan (GIFT), an online internship job search platform under the funding and guidance of the Ministry of Education in 2018.
