Along with the fast development of information technology, personal computers are pervasive, computer networks are highly developed, and numerous commercial electronic applications are realized; however, threats of sophisticated high-tech crimes also manifest in the information era, such as credit card forgery, stealing of commercial secrets through the Internet, and vulnerabilities of computer systems exploited by hackers for their own satisfaction and profits. By the practice of information security concept in coordination with the enforcement of government law and policy, researches on the area of information security is developing and promising in preventing high-tech crimes. Closely following state of the art technologies, in our laboratory we focus not only on applications such as firewalls, intruding detection, and smart card developments, but also on investigations of coding theory and cryptography. Graduate student researchers in our lab have hand on experiences on security related applications and are able to develop capabilities in thinking and researching. We already have published many papers on international and national conferences and journals.
We have received funds and grants from National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Department of Education. From researches and implementation for the projects, graduate student researchers obtain experiences in implementing systems and in team works, and learn how to think and realized systems.
